Leading worldwide child welfare organizations, such as UNICEF, have stated that the negative consequences of the EVEN though India has one of the world’s largest populations of widows (approximately 55 million), widow welfare is not considered a priority. Losing a spouse is a traumatic experience for both men and women.

Women in India, on the other hand, frequently suffer a variety of issues after losing their life partner due to religious practices, traditions, and patriarchal conventions. Social exclusion, discrimination in inheritance rights, violence, and even family abandonment in old age are examples.
